GIS-based technical support for preparation of a Block-Level Resource Atlas for Sundargarh District, Odisha, using standard GIS workflows to assist planning and analytical requirements of concerned departments.

The Block-Level Resource Atlas project was undertaken by SpatiEdge Technologies Pvt. Ltd. to develop comprehensive GIS-based resource atlases for blocks across Odisha. The project aimed to provide accurate, high-resolution spatial data on land use, natural resources, and infrastructure to support decentralized planning, governance, and development monitoring.
Odisha Space Applications Centre (ORSAC)
Government of Odisha – Planning and Line Departments
Create detailed block-level resource atlases integrating land use, infrastructure, and natural resource data
Support data-driven governance and decentralized planning
Provide a standardized geospatial reference for multiple departments
Facilitate monitoring and evaluation of developmental interventions
Acquisition and interpretation of satellite imagery for land use/land cover classification
Mapping of infrastructure such as roads, water bodies, public utilities, and facilities
Integration of socio-economic and environmental datasets
Creation of block-wise GIS databases and thematic maps
Validation of spatial data through field verification and official records
SpatiEdge employed a combination of remote sensing, GIS analysis, and field verification to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the resource atlases. High-resolution satellite imagery was classified for land use and land cover, while infrastructure and natural resource features were digitized and integrated into a standardized GIS framework. The resulting datasets were structured to support inter-departmental planning and analysis.
